Helping Artists Make A Living Using Today's Technology

A project to understand the needs of artists, highlight and experiment with replicate-able models that help independent artists make a living from their creativity. publicknowledge:

Interesting price discrimination experiment,

For artists, please read this post and in your mind, replace “software” with “music”, “software developers” with “artists”, “pirates” with “casual listeners”, “piracy” with “free listening”; and “customers” with “fans” . The key take aways (redrafted for creators):

[Artists] are foolish if they think they can prevent piracy. The only goals worth pursuing are

  1. Make it incredibly easy for honest customers to purchase your [offerings].

  2. Find simple, non-intrusive ways of encouraging [casual listeners] to become paying [fans].

  3. Retire to a sandy location with the tens of hundreds of dollars you’re sure to make.
