Tumblr, which is basically halfway between a blogging platform and Twitter, allows users to post photos, videos, and text. Critically, it also allows users to “follow” each other and “re-blog” the posts of others.
The latter concepts, which Twitter has also capitalized on with amazing success (through “following” and “re-tweets”), inserts reblogged posts into each user’s timeline stream. Thus, anyone who “follows” a user, also sees the re-blogged posts.
This turns Tumblr users into editors and curators in addition to content creators.

Tumblr an amazing free tool (blog or website replacement) that lets others spread the word about your art. The barriers to posting content — written word, photo, video, repost of someone else’s post— are incredibly low. No other blogging platform is as easily syndicatable and spreadable as tumblr.

Much Love to JoCo (a big inspiration for the Creators’ Freedom Project)! Congrats on his success finding and engaging fans!

Over the past few months, Parachute Musical’s been taking advantage of Topspin Media’s online tools to aggregate all their fans’ contact info, unify their online offerings, and provide a consistent way to sign-up new fans. For instance, we wanted to make a list of those fans that pledged during PM’s Kickstarter campaign so we could send them the tracks that were promised them — so we exported that email list from Kicsktarter as a csv and imported it into Topspin, assigning all those people to a specific list that could be used to send a special link to download.
We made a hidden page on PM’s website that included …

For the past few months, we’ve been working with the Nashville indie rock band Parachute Musical to help them better engage their fans, develop more scarce merchandise, and maximize their performances.
The four bandmates and their manager are a hardworking team who love their craft and are grateful for the respect of their fans. It’s been an pleasure to work with them. In just this short amount of time, they’ve begun working with CFP, had a successful Kickstarter campaign, performed their new songs to a live audience, drove to Cleveland to record their new songs, moved most of their online offerings to a new system, and released a two track EP. So, we’ve been busy!
Here’s more detail on some of what CFP has been working on with Parachute Musical for the past few months:
